What do you tell yourself about who you are and what your life if about? That is your story. How does your story limit you?
Like computers, you have a set of basic programs that run your life. Many of your programs contain out-of-date stories that too often limit how well you function.
Much of your earliest programming needs serious upgrading. Yet you continue daily to replay that programming with your thoughts.
These programs can be upgraded to expand your life.
By the time we reach adulthood we have very deeply grooved programs about:
· Who you think you are
· What you think you deserve
· Your self-image
· How safe it is for you to be in the world
· What you think about life
· Your beliefs
· What feelings are okay for you to feel and express
· How open you should be in heart and mind
· How you should act and relate to others
All of this makes up your story. The same limiting story can go on for your entire life - unless you question it. If your story has false thoughts, ideas, and beliefs they limit you.
The brain runs approximately 50,000 to 60,000 thoughts a day. About 80-90% of those thoughts are the same as the previous day. This means that brain keeps on playing thoughts right or wrong over and over again. This intense internal reprogramming happens whether you are conscious of it or not.
Imagine as a 2-year-old child that you interpreted an experience to mean that you were not lovable. Since then you have unconsciously repeated that thought of being unlovable for your entire life.
Then one day you ask yourself, how come I can’t find any love in my life?
You have programmed yourself to feel unlovable. When you ask the question why, you explore and discover that deep inside you are being run by this old message.
It is time to rewrite your programming. Go immediately to your inner message center and change that false belief.
The internal messages now say you are lovable. Begin to replay these supportive thoughts until they expand your sense of self and bring love into your life.
What changes these programs is awareness.
When you question, when you look within to understand who you are, what you think and how you feel, you invite awareness. With awareness you have choices. Without awareness you are stuck in living your past limits over and over again.
The challenge is to become aware of what you think and feel. An effective way to do this is to look at what you want in life but don’t have. If you want something in life and it eludes you, there is a faulty program being played.
Maybe you want a successful career, a loving relationship, financial freedom, a family, to be recognized for achievements, to write a best selling novel or whatever it is. If you have programming that says you don’t deserve to have what you want, then guess what happens?
Sadly you can work your tail off to make things happen but you keep dragging the old programming with you so you never seem to get where you want to go. Is any of this ringing a bell?
Of course it is because you are like the rest of us. You are the biggest limiting factor in your life.
That can change starting today. Tune inward, get to know your self-talk and see where it is limiting you. If you pay close attention you will be very surprised by how much you hold yourself back from creating what you want.
When you get stuck and the inner exploration grinds to a halt, I offer coaching to help you get past your own limits, to assist you in expanding your life in ways that really make a positive difference.
